This series of paintings is based on the Facebook profile pictures of some of my friends. Facebook provides an outlet for self-expression and connecting with one another. While today’s teenagers are usually comfortable having a public persona in cyberspace (often revealing intimate details about themselves) my generation is not. I became intrigued by my friends’ contradictory desires to simultaneously reveal and conceal them selves. These paintings explore these apparent internal conflicts.
